Frequently asked questions
Quick answers to the questions players ask most about Kyoto Xanadu: The Blooming Phantom — from the English-release situation to how the game actually plays.

What is Kyoto Xanadu: The Blooming Phantom?
Kyoto Xanadu (亰都ザナドゥ -桜花幻舞-) is a Dual Dimensional action RPG from Nihon Falcom, released on 16 July 2026. It is the tenth-anniversary successor to Tokyo Xanadu and follows transfer student Rei Kamiya at Hirasaka Academy as he dives the otherworld Xanadu.
Is there an English version of Kyoto Xanadu?
Not yet. The game launched in Japan and Asia with Japanese, Korean, Traditional Chinese and Simplified Chinese support. An English version is planned for a later date, but no publisher or release date has been announced, so Western players currently import the Asian release.
What platforms is Kyoto Xanadu on?
Kyoto Xanadu is available on PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch 2, Nintendo Switch and Steam (PC). A ¥150 upgrade pass lets Switch owners move their save to the enhanced Switch 2 edition. There is no announced Xbox version, and the Steam release lets you play on PC or Steam Deck by importing the Asian build.
Is Kyoto Xanadu a sequel to Tokyo Xanadu?
It is a successor rather than a direct sequel. Kyoto Xanadu shares the Xanadu worldview and the Soul Device concept with Tokyo Xanadu, but tells a new, standalone story with a new cast, so you do not need to have played the 2015 game first.
Does Kyoto Xanadu have redeem codes?
No. Kyoto Xanadu is a premium, single-player RPG rather than a live-service game, so there is no redeem-code or coupon system inside it. Like Falcom's other console RPGs, extra content comes as paid or bonus DLC bought through the platform store, not entered as codes.
How does combat work in Kyoto Xanadu?
Combat is split across two layers: 2D side-scrolling action while exploring the labyrinth, and 3D arena battles at gates. The 3D layer centres on the Issen counter — parrying red-telegraphed attacks — plus the Soul Accel burst and each Soul Device's Secret Art.
